Champions Manchester City has surprisely not splashed the cash this summer, so far signing only Jack Rodwell from Everton. However as they showed in the Community Shield they are one of the top contenders. Manchester United have made three signings but most significant is the acquisition of Robin Van Persie. This is a real statement of intent from United. Fergie is not going to let the ‘noisy neighbours’ have things their way and has assembled and strike force that will make defenders quiver. Arsenal have yet again lost another talisman in Van Persie, further fuelling the criticism that they can no longer compete with the top teams.
However the addition of Santi Cazorla and strikers Podolski and Giroud has made Wenger defiant that his team stands a chance
The performance of clubs like Newcastle and Everton will also add spice to what promises to be a thrilling league campaign
